Yarning Circle Mat 2.7m x 2.7m - Green/White

Perfect for schools and early learning, these large outdoor mats are ideal for storytelling, play, and group activities indoors or out. From arts and crafts to picnics and outdoor lessons, they create a versatile learning space and perfect way to introduce children to the world of Aboriginal Art and storytelling and embed Aboriginal culture into the classroom through symbolism.

Look closely and you will see a variety of different Aboriginal symbols including men, women, and children, as well as emu or kangaroo tracks, digging tools, boomerangs, and coolamons.

De Greer Yindimincarlie describes her design: "I draw my men sitting towards the fire as they sit with their legs outstretched towards the campfire, and I draw my women facing away from the fire, as they sit with their legs tucked under their bottoms, hence the facing way… I draw them like that because that's the way I was taught the symbols and the way I have always drawn and taught the symbols to others."

The reversible Yarning Circle design offers two looks in one while extending the life of your mat. Pair it with cushions to create a comfortable, culturally rich reading or relaxation area.

Made from durable recycled materials, these mats are easy to clean - simply shake off sand and grass or hose down when needed.

Designed in consultation with Aboriginal artists and communities, each mat respectfully shares meaningful cultural stories and supports educational outcomes.
